Who are we & what do we do?

Scorpions Basketball Inc. was created off the back of a successful joint venture in January 2020 where twenty-eight athletes were given the opportunity to travel to Victoria and compete at the Bendigo Junior Classic, one of the premier Junior Basketball tournaments in the country.

Most of the 28 athletes were not high-end players, and they may have never had the opportunity otherwise to see what higher level training and traveling for a sport you love looks like.......IT WAS AWESOME, so awesome that planning was started whilst still in Bendigo to take a group of players to the USA in December of 2020, but unfortunately COVID-19 happened....and the world just stopped.

When it began to restart, things had shifted and we could not travel, so a small group of the people from the previous tour decided that the way forward would be to stay local for the time being and start a not-for-profit organisation focussed on the development of players of all levels and provide them with the same type of experiences usually reserved for Elite athletes.... Scorpions Basketball Inc. was born.

Scorpions Basketball Inc. has now been operating since 2020 and has worked with around 300 kids, from first time players entering the basketball community to athletes that have played NBL1, looking to play at a US College and beyond in the future.

Our coaches are certified and between them have experience from local domestic competitions right through to international leagues as either a player or a coach. They are united in their views on basketball and are committed to the development of their basketball skills and understanding and place high priority on athlete attitude and resilience. They are there for the players and to help them achieve their goals, whatever they may be.

Scorpions Basketball Inc. is about building confidence and offering players an
opportunity to participate and develop in a safe and welcoming environment, providing them with pathways to wherever they wish to take their basketball is our goal.

We are always evaluating our programs and outcomes and we look to finish our development programs each term with either a local invitational mini tournament or a road trip to a regional destination. We are now running Interstate development tours to further develop and challenge our players.
